Kempsey LALC’s vision is to
“Protect and strengthen our Cultural Heritage whilst developing and providing self-sustaining economic opportunities for both todays and tomorrows’ generations and continuing to provide a safe, sustainable and affordable Aboriginal Community Housing Program”
Kempsey Local Aboriginal Land Council is located in the Northern Zone of NSW and is a member of the Mid North Coast Region. Kempsey LALC operates within the boundary of the following NSW Local Government areas: Kempsey Shire Council, Nambucca Shire Council and the Hastings Shire Council. Kempsey LALC’s footprint is from just north of Grassy Heads to Port Macquarie, up through the Maria River to the Wilson River and west to the Aspley River to Willawarin.
The predominant feature in the LGA is the Macleay River and pristine beaches. The prominent features within the Kempsey Local Aboriginal Land Council or sites of significance are: Burran Dali – Sacred mountain near Bellbrook; Midden at Fisherman’s Reach near Stuart’s Point; Bora Ring near Crescent Head; Yarrahappinni Mountain, overlooking Stuart’s Point and the mouth of the Macleay River.
